Walking With My Dog For Fitness and Good Health

posted on 22 December 2011 | posted in Health and Beauty

After an on the job injury and spending a year in treatment with a chiropractor, I realized it is up to me to get in good shape. I have a lot of joint pain, so I figured the best thing to do is to get my muscles in shape to help my bones! This is a concern for people of my age. I started walking. Just heading out the door with the dog and moving. We started out small and gradually have worked up to about one mile a day. Before heading out, I do some warm up exercises. I use a stretch band, 3 pound weights and an exercise ball. These are pretty easy on my joints and make me feel limber enough to get moving with the walking. It is a very simple routine, nothing fancy, although I do find having music with my iPod is great to keep me moving.

A friend of mine uses a personal trainer, and it's something I'd recommend if you're new to exercise. Do a search for something like personal trainer derby via Google to find a trainer near you.
