My third and final baby was born a little less than a year ago. I was so relieved to no longer be pregnant, and to know I would never be pregnant again! I've had a lifetime's worth of changing bags and nappies believe me!
I am not the type of person who enjoys being pregnant. From the very beginning of every pregnancy I have had, I have found myself sick and uncomfortable. The last pregnancy, while the morning sickness wasn't as bad as the first time around, was by far the most uncomfortable and the longest. I already had two boys, and I was certain I was having another boy. My husband and I had chosen boys names, and I had purchased several boys outfits for the new addition. When I was 18 weeks, I had an ultrasound to measure the baby and make sure everything was as it should be, and was surprised and happy to learn that I was having a girl instead. She would be the first girl in the family! As my pregnancy progressed, the baby settled further down into my pelvis, and curled herself up even more, so I started actually showing less. It became concerning to the doctors and myself that the baby didn't seem to be growing as she should. I started having weekly ultrasounds and measurements to make sure she was, indeed, growing as she should be. As I neared the final weeks of my pregnancy, I became more and more antsy for the little girl's arrival. Both of my previous pregnancies had resulted in babies being born prior to their due dates, but the stubborn little girl was showing no signs of making an early appearance. The day before my due date, I had a checkup at the doctor's office and scheduled my induction for two weeks later. As I drove home, the regular contractions I had been having the last few weeks of my pregnancy started becoming stronger, and within a few hours, I was certain I was in labor. I went to the hospital late that evening, and was admitted shortly before eleven p.m. At four nineteen a.m. on her due date, my baby girl was born!
