I was strolling through the dewy meadow near my chalet on a warm morning last May. My husband had left for work and surprised me with a darling purple pashmina. He left it in a long, flat gift-box wrapped in golden paper, lying upon my pillow. When I went back to the room to change after eating my whole grain cereal and kissing my love goodbye, it was there. My husband what a great man! I missed him so dearly. I wished that he didn’t have work so hard. I wished we could sit here by the brook, together. The purple in the pashmina matched the purple wildflowers that grow in the meadow. I decided to wear the pashmina all day long and surprise him with a wonderful dinner, and then a special surprise for afterwards. I know what my husband likes, and I let him know exactly how much I love him. Thanks for the wonder pashmina dear.
Out of the many fashions that come and go - from bangles and bracelets to pashminas, the sweater is always a constant in the world of fashion. Perhaps the reason that sweaters seem to invade every fashion fiend's closet is that they are able to state a fashionista's personality in a single glance. Sweater's come in all shapes, sizes, colors and embellishments, with everything from poetic to military flares. There are super light sweaters for the summer and super bulky sweaters for the winter. The sweater is a versatile tell-all of the wearer's personality and spirit. Sweaters with flower appliques give the sense of a romantic dreamer while sweaters with brass buttons yell edgy persona. There is a sweater soulmate for every fashion lover in the world. Once that sweater soulmate is found a wadrobe can never go wrong, because the right sweater can make any outfit and any statement. The sweater has always been a popular fashion piece for a reason, and thanks to the sweater-love shared by grandmothers and young fashion fiend's alike, the sweater is here to stay.
Buying presents can be difficult, particularly if you are buying for people that seem to have everything. I have a vast number of people to buy for an am unsure what to buy them. Usually they never give any hints. I think I will leave all my shopping to Christmas Eve, and even make some gifts beforehand using my jewellery making supplies (for the women who I know love jewellery). I don't intend to spend a lot of money on gifts as I am adhering to a budget. Most friends and family are normally oblivious to how much I have spent. I make an extra special effort to buy expensive looking presents. The key is to buy gifts that have been dramatically marked down. I intend to buy mainly gourmet food or small home wares at cost price. For my younger brother I intend to find him an ipod that is reasonably priced. I always keep my eye out for premium brands. I love Christmas time and always look forward to the season. I hope I receive some terrific gifts.
Over the years I’ve had many items of fashion that I have loved, but nothing beats the pleasure of buying a new pair of shoes. I remember the first pair of shoes I bought myself. I was 17 years old, and it was love at first sight! Gold and bronze with a narrow stiletto heel, and thin straps and an ankle strap. I just had to have them. They cost 17 pounds, which at the time was a large amount of money, but I just had to have them. When the assistant bought them out I held one as if it would break. The soft gold leather was beautiful, the heel so elegant. I tried them on and they were perfect. I felt taller, more confident and thinner. I kept going backwards and forwards getting into my stride and walking confidently around the shop. “I’ll take them.” I said reluctantly taking them off. I was in heaven and didn’t want to be parted from them even for a few minutes. And that was it. The first piece of footwear that I had paid for. I didn’t wear them for the first month after I had bought them. They were too precious and I didn’t want to spoil them. Those gold sandals sparked a life-long love of high-heeled shoes and I still experience a warm glow every time I buy a pair. They go so well with everything I wear - from my He Loved an Angel dresses to smart trousers.
I would dress up as Marilyn Monroe for a fancy dress party because I love the white dress she wore in that picture where she was trying to keep her dress from blowing up - to me this is the best of all the fancy dress ideas I can think of. I love her hair and shoes too and it would be great to pretend ,just for one day to be the famous Marilyn Monroe. It would be hilarious to find a fan and imitate Marilyn Monroe's famous pose. Also the outfit will be easy to get and not that expensive.I have hundreds of photos with Monroe and my sister is a make up artist so I know I will stun the crowd and stand out from everyone else.My friends wouldn't recognize either because I am black but with my sister's skills as a make up artist my complexion can change like the Waynes in the movie white chicks. It would fun to see my friend's faces.
I have a thing for blue clutch bags. I know it's an obscure obsession, but I guess it's routed in the fact that blue is my favourite colour, and the clutch is my favourite type of bag. I have a collection at home, and to a non-connoisseur, they may look the same, but to a more discerning eye, they are quite different, with different embellishments. I love carrying a blue clutch bag wherever I go - there's something quite regal about it - I feel like royality with my blue bags - no wonder they describe one shade of blue as royal - it really is a colour befitting of such an adjective. Although blue's my favourite colour, I do like to mix my colours up when it comes to clothing - I don't want to look like I've just stepped out of a Tory conference after all! But for me, blue compliments so many other colours, it's no trouble finding suitable colours to wear that go with whatever blue clutch I'm carrying.
I brought some uncut rubys to a jewlery cutter and paid 15 dollars a carat to have them made into a showroom ruby. The stone was finished in a couple of weeks and when I picked it up, I decided to make it into a necklace for my girlfriend, as she loves jewellery so much. She owns a wide collection - from a bijoux bronze bracelet to a selection of silver rings. The jewler made it fit into a silver harness and included a nice chain for it. The next day i give it to my girlfriend and her eyes light up to the sight of this ruby, but when I told her that I mined it myself thats when she really fell in love with it. I love the ruby for its Deceptive nature, its beault, and even it's toughness which is only one under dimond. I believe the ruby is a great piece of anyones jewlery collection or even a jemstone collection.

Pearl necklaces have been a necessity in a girls wardrobe since the beginning of time it seems. And why not? What says simple elegance or classic beauty so effortlessly? Pearls are perhaps the most simulated of any type of jewelry out there. The traditional string of pearls can be found in white, cream or black but many variations of pearls now grace the necks of fashion conscious women. Opalescent purples, pinks and cream are made to compliment particular outfits. An authentic strand of pearls makes a sharp statement when worn to accent formal wear as well as when worn with a simple classic sweater and jeans. The younger population have turned to vintage looks of pearls necklace with matching earrings and bracelets for parties and proms. Wearing multiple strands of pearls in varying colors and sizes is a very hot look. There is just no wrong way to wear pearls anymore.
One of the most popular and practical ways to shop for accessories is to shop online. It’s quite popular now because it’s relaxed (you don’t have to leave your house to buy items!) and has more variety. A lot of the pieces online are more unique. Also, you can easily find limited edition items online!
However, online shopping has its disadvantages. You can get fooled into buying a broken item or become a victim of identity theft!
To avoid this, you have to be wary when buying fashion accessories online. Here are just a few simple things to remember and follow to keep you safe while shopping for stylish items:
First, make sure that the website is legitimate and provides customer service. EBay and similar sites are more reliable because they follow guidelines and cater to the buyers’ concerns. Please avoid sites that do not.
You should also be able to know just what they are selling. The site should feature clear pictures of the item in its current condition. You should also be able to see the seller’s complete details, so you can easily get in touch with him/her should you have any concerns.
I've had two weddings, so I know more than many people about them. But it's not just the quantity that matters it's the quality. For both of my weddings, my goal was to keep the price as low as possible - from the bridal tiaras to the cost of the buffet - while making it as enjoyable as possible. My first wedding was at an outdoor chapel. We were not particularly religious, and most people don't like sitting through the service, so we got a justice of the peace to do a short service. The weather was perfect, about 75 people attended, and people talked about it for years. But my second wedding got even more attention. It was in my back yard, and included a large tent and a rock-climbing wall. Again, we kept the price low with do-it-yourself stuff whenever we could. My father-in-law wrote a song for us. And once again, the weather was absolutely perfect sunny and 72 degrees. And again, even years later, people tell us what a great and memorable wedding it was. And the total cost for the two combined was just a fraction of what many people spend for just one wedding. Focus on what people will remember, not on making ridiculous details perfect.
Kokichi Mikimoto is said to be the father of the modern cultured pearl industry. Although in the strictest terms this is not entirely correct he did have a pioneering role in both developing the modern techniques for culturing pearls and convincing the public and the jewellery industry to accept the resulting freshwater pearl jewellery as worthwhile and valuable. Mikimoto was born in Toba City in Japan n 1858 and was the eldest son of a family that ran a noodle restaurant. He began raising oysters and in the late 1890s had a patent on a process for culturing mabes (hemispherical pearls) He continued his research and in the early 1900s acquired a patent for culturing spherical pearls. In the following years he was an tireless advocate of the new culturing process and the resultant gems and his efforts opened up new markets for cultured pearls resulting in the pearl industry that exists today. He received numerous honours and awards during his lifetime and died in 1954 at the age of 96.
My turquoise snowflake brooch seems to have taken the cooler weather with me as I travelled from the UK to Australia. We experienced very cool weather in Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains. They jokingly celebrate Christmas on 25th August, as it's normally cold then Down Under (their winter time). But this year they could well have synched up with Europe and the US and celebrated as per normal on 25th December - it was bitterly cold! Yes, Katoomba is high up so it is rather fresh all year round, but end of December is summer time there, yet it was like it was winter.
What with the floods up in Queensland, Australia is having some weird weather of late. I do put this down to global warming - you just need to upset a few weather patterns, and the effects can be quite extreme - I hope governments take notice.
Ever since I was a child I knew that I wanted to be a mother. One just like mine. When I got the news that I was pregnant I didn't know whether to be excited, scared, or happy, but I was all three! Throughout the 9 months of my pregnancy I had no difficulties, and it was just a blissful experience. A little morning sickness here and there but nothing too bad. I was a picture of serenity in my maternity tops, a picture of health (so my husband tells me).
James was an energetic baby, always kicking and moving around, he would never stay still. To this day he is still a little ball of energy just like his father. June 21st, the day my baby was born. I had been set up with the best doctor in this city. He was very calm and productive and helped me stay calm during the birthing process. After little James was born I couldn't have been happier. Seeing this little baby in your arms, knowing you gave birth, you gave it life. It just makes it all worth it in the end.
So what are the top most on the list as buying guide for consumer? Is it the brand? Is it the price? Certainly it’s all of the above. The brand, its price and quality that a wise buyer must check when buying fashion sunglasses. Although fashion sunglasses are a common must buy items in the market, a careful selection of its quality must be considered also. That’s why famous designer came into picture to make sure quality is not loss in order to have affordability. For these famous brands such as Bulgari, Tommy Hilfiger, D&G, Prada and many more prices ranges from under $ 100 – $300.
There are replicas for these brands also. And funny thing is that its really an obvious piracy of the design, but the name is altered a little bit to confuse and attract the consumer. Instead of D&G the cheap fashion sunglasses name it D&C. And instead of Prada it’s called Prado. It’s really funny but it’s the reality in the market that these companies are on the look out. But to make sure you are buying the authentic the top most checker is the tag, the supplier and the price. Sometimes quality is confusing to check as well because replica brands has the same quality to it. Just make sure the optical clinic is a reliable dealer for these brands.
Fashion is an ever-changing phenomenon and keeps on changing every day. Whatever we design and wear can become a fashion that others follow. Women use dresses, saris, jeans, gowns, sexy lingerie etc to enhance their look. Not only dresses but they also try to keep themselves in pace with the fashionable items like bangles, bindis, shoes, handbags etc. My favorite fashion item for women is leggings with matching kurtas which are a lot in style these days. These leggings are available in a number of vibrant colors and are tight fitting. Women like to wear these tight leggings with matching contrast kurtas which are available. Not only are these comfortable to wear but women also look very smart and these can be worn to office, markets or anywhere else they go. Some women prefer to wear short kurtas where as some other prefer long kurtas. Whatever be the length of kurtas women no doubt look very attractive and elegant in these dresses.
